The national flag carrier SriLankan Airlines has attracted great attention after launching a buy 1 get 1 free promotion for passengers from India and Russia.

On the occasion of the resumption of flights to India from September 1, SriLankan Airlines launched a buy 1 get 1 free promotion to help the flight schedules quickly fill up. SriLankan Airlines currently operates routes to many destinations in India, such as New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Trivandrum, Bengalaru and Cochin.


In addition to India, SriLankan Airlines also offers a similar promotion to the Russian market, but the free airfare is included in the pre-registered travel packages. Visitors will be required to participate in tour programs from 3 to 5 nights, provided by SriLankan Airlines and the Sri Lanka Inbound Travel Association (SLAITO).



Sri Lanka attracts tourism with flight ticket promotions

As many flights from India to other countries are still banned, Indian tourists take advantage of this opportunity to visit Sri Lanka, staying for 7 to 14 days before continuing on to another destination. India is the largest source market for Sri Lanka's tourism industry, but currently only tourists who have had enough Covid-19 vaccine are allowed to enter.


Sri Lanka has been open to international tourism since January 2021, but in the first eight months of this year, it only received 24,377 visitors, a sharp decrease compared to 507,311 visitors for the whole of 2020. From November, SriLankan Airlines will resume flights to Paris (France). Air France and Swiss International Airlines have also announced flights to Colombo (Sri Lanka) from November, with the expectation that tourism demand will increase in the winter.
